Pulmonary Services

If you are having breathing problems—including asthma, bronchitis or more serious concerns including COPD and emphysema—a pulmonologist can assist in identifying and relieving these conditions. Southern California Hospital at Culver City provides pulmonary services needed on either an inpatient or outpatient basis.

Services for those requiring specialized respiratory care are provided by the Respiratory Therapy Department. The services are administered by certified respiratory therapy technicians who have specialized training. Services include:

  • Administration of medical gases (exclusive of anesthesia)
  • Aerosol breathing treatments
  • Mechanical ventilator management support including non-invasive ventilation
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Bronchopulmonary hygiene
  • Maintenance of natural airways
  • Insertion and maintenance of artificial airways
  • Patient instruction and education for maintaining healthy respiration
  • Bedside monitoring of pulmonary function
  • Arterial blood gas collection and analysis
  • Intermittent positive pressure breathing
